A plaque depicting Autumn, one of a set of four, called `The four seasons`.
After Antonio Canova, Thorvaldsen was the most important Neoclassical sculptor in Europe.
Son of an Icelandic wood carver, who was born in Copenhagen, and as an adult, he went to live and work, from the art capital of Europe, Rome, where his work soon became sought after.
The originals are in the Thorvaldsen museum, Copenhagen.
