The Medici vase, a true timeless piece of Marble art, originally made in Athens in the second half of the 1st century AD, as decoration for the Roman market.Â
It has carved scenes of Iphigenia, with Ulysses and Angamemnon.Â
The original marble vase reappeared in the inventory of the Medici family collection, in the 16th century.
It has also been referred to as the Vaso Di Villa Albani, the original is on display in the Uffizi gallery, Italy.
There is also a very large Italian marble Medici vase, situated in the orangery at Chatsworth house.Â
