Description

The Three Graces, in relief, with raised border, this sculpture subject was first made by Antonio Canova, and is a Neoclassical sculpture, which he made in marble.

The Graces represent the mythological three Charities, the daughters of Zeus, from left to right, Euphrosyne, Aglaea, and Thalia, who were said to represent youth and beauty (Thalia), mirth (Euphrosyne), and elegance (Aglaea).

The Graces presided over banquets and gatherings, to delight the guests of the gods. As such they have served as subjects for historical artists who created their own versions including Sandro Botticelli, and Bertel Thorvaldsen.

The wall plaque is well made of high quality using the finest mix of British gypsum, giving a silky surface feel that is very hard and cold to the touch

Hand Made in Staffordshire, England
